Updates

Wow..it's been too long since I've blogged.
I'm still busy running about here and there, and it's no exception for the husband too.
I had assumed I'll be 'free-er' after settling down with my hubby, but it doesn't seem to be heading into that specific direction.

I wish I was still on honeymoon at Perhentian! I miss the sun, sea and sand!
I can't wait for our next vacation, which I hope will take place in Oct - since my employment contract will be expiring then.
However I'm praying and hoping more for a job. Money isn't everything, but money at present is crucial for survival.
Even though hubby has assured me many times, I guess it's only human nature to worry.

My dear friends, if there is any job openings in PJ - please kindly inform me.
I don't want to be left unemployed :(

Busy Bee

It's been more than a month, since I've blogged.
I miss blogging very much.
There's so much I want to share, but have been so busy with preparations for our wedding.
In just 2 days, I'll finally move in with my hubby and life will be a little less busy - I hope.
Dan and I will be back soon :)

My 1st Class Honours Boy

I'd the opportunity of celebrating Dan's very special day at The Equatorial Hotel in KL, last Wednesday.
He graduated with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Music Arrangement and receive the Award of Excellence from the college.Am truly proud of his achievement, and am thankful to God for his constant blessing and favour upon his life :)
An occasion that is worth boasting about. I'm extremely glad that I'm a part of this wonderful celebration!
Hubby, am sooooo proud of you! *hugs & kisses!!!

I know High School Musical 3 is a little cheezy, but I would like to dedicate one of the soundtracks from the movie to my darling Dan - as I feel it words speak a lot about our relationship.
So this is for you hubby!! I love you!! So would you have this dance with me? :)

No title lah

I'm beginning to enjoy my work, which comes as a surprise to me.
I've been entrusted by my boss to carry out lots of research, which is something that I truly enjoy doing.
At times I feel like I'm back in Uni again, it reminds me of Uni assignments where lots of research is required -but minus the need to write pages after pages of lenghty paragraphs *hee.
I'm quite surprise and flattered that my boss constantly asked for my opinion on matters big & small. Well it does make working much more delightful, when you have a boss who is willing to hear you out and who is quite generous with compliments. Definitely a blessing from God :) Thank you!
In addition to that, I'm exceptionally fortunate to have a bf that is ever supportive, caring and kind. I don't know what I would do without him :) I miss you very much darling... I just love being in love with you :)
On another note, Daniel will be playing with Farid Ali tonight at No Black Tie, KL. Everyone is invited to come -to just chill, relax and have fun! They will be performing at the World Music Festival in Shanghai next month - so take this opportunity to catch them live in KL. Come yah :)

My first mamak concert

I had an amazing time on Saturday, thanks to my beloved Daniel. It is always a trill to watch Dan rock the stage with his bass :) He pampered my parents and I to an enjoyable mamak musical show at KLPAC, and an artery-fat-clogging supper thereafter :P
I really like the whole mamak concept for the show, maybe next year we can have 'Let's Go Thai Chow!' - and maybe serve the audience a dish of hokkien mee with lots of fried and crispy pork lard! Yum! *LOL* I wonder if I can sell that idea to them *hee
But it would have to be a non-halal show :P

Go watch this!

My handsome Dan will be playing, hence definitely worth spurlging your RM30 or RM20 (if you're still a student or if you're old enough to be considered a senior citizen and for the disabled) for the ticket *hee

P.S. And if you do make it for the Saturday show, you're most welcome to join Dan and my family for some mean heart-attack noddles, which is just opposite of Hosp. Besar for supper *yum yum

    Hello!!! Eye-am prom the Peellipins

I haven't been updating bout my gigs or where i'll be playing lately cuz apparently nobody cares. O_o
Well, i can't expect my friends to come watch me play ALL the time. And i don't play for an indie/underground band that revolves around groupies, posers and easily excitable listeners. Yes yes, i'm being a little blunt...(sorry all u underground bands/singer-songwriters, not criticizing u or your music; just talking bout the situation in M'sia)
But recently, i haven't felt the pride or rather the excitement of playing becuz most venues are cutting down on budget. Hence, this usually means a band downsizing. Or, they are too darn stupid to get an entertainment license and thus do not see the need to get proper equipment. In this case, the drums go first and automatically persons who deal the gig would minus a drummer. This will then lead to either a percussionist
( best choice) or a keyboard with programmed drums. O_o
In case u don't quite understand the situation, picture this: Have u ever been to a bistro/cheap motel/club where they have 2 girls usually Filipinos, and a guy playing a keyboard ? SOunds like CRAP!!! Looks like crap also. The singers usually look like some mid-age aunties and the keyboardist looks like an alcoholic...no offense but i don't play music to encourage gigs like that, i play to help the music industry grow bigger and better.
It's not like i haven't played without a drummer, it's just the idea that really turns me off. And guess WHAT??? Tonight i'm doin a gig at La Bodega Pavillion with a keyboardist on programmed drums and 2 singers. BUt we're better cuz we're playing in La Bodega and we're Chinese HAHAHAHA. (Plus, we're not doing stuff from Shakira or Britney Spears. )
(DISCLAIMER) Don't get me wrong, work is work and sometimes musicians get unfavorable jobs as well. And i am grateful to be earning decent legal money. But i really enjoy playing with a drummer and the keyboard drums is no where near a drummer...

So from now onwards, i'll try my best to post bout where i'll be playing and the ratings to my gigs are as following:

MW - Must Watch : Big, big , big shows like jazz fest/ music fest. Great music and large audience.

    WW - Worth Watching : New material / rare material. Usually a jazz / R & B gig with known/famous/ heard-off ppl.

WR - Watch for Relaxation : Something medium, probably jazz / pop stuff that's common and enjoyable.

WM - you Won't Miss anything : Normal gig/ or can be abnormal/ excitable like no drummer.

Today : 17th April La Bodega, Pavillion. Pop, a bit of jazz and a drummer hiding in the keyboard. ( rated WM)
8.30pm. NO cover charge. Toilets entrance free. Parking flat rate RM5 ( i think)

Other happenings: Bangkok Jazz jam session 9.30pm onwards. Free of charge. With flat rate coupon parking RM3. ( rated WR )

    Everyone do the Salsa! Arrrr....

It's been more than awhile since Dan and I updated this blog. We're both quite busy with work and studies, so this blog has been left abandoned for the rats to feast on *hee

There's actually a number of things to update on, but the most interesting one would be the Genting Jazz Festival that was held on the 4th & 5th of April.
Dan and I had the privileged of attending the event for free!
Yups, FREE! Due to kindness of Dan's cousin Elaine. Thanks a bunch!

It was my first time, while it was the second for Dan. We both had a really good time; music was good, the weather was also good, but food was pricey.

I'll just let the pictures do the talking for me :)

The Cameroon band. The bass player was either high or high *hee

On the second night, with Dan and Elaine

    We look cute right? *hahaha

The Malaysian Band; Junkofunk. Thumbs up! Malaysia boleh ok!

I felt that they were the best band; Hamilton de Holanda from Brazil! Ole?

    Spectators doing the Salsa!

Key Elements from Singapore. Nothing to shout about - mediocre performance

There were 5 bands for each night. I had a good time, so did Dan. Definitely looking forward to the next one, next year :)

    Sunburst!

Well a quick update on Sunburst KL Music Festival that took place last Saturday.
It was an extremely wet day, but the crowd was really 'semangat'. Its a good thing we had an umbrella with us, or I would have already fallen ill by today.

    The crowd

Felt drained from the festival, due to all the walking and standing - yet I'd a great time. Attending my first concert with Dan, made it even more special :)
Dan and I only watched the international acts. Incognito was superb! Unfortunately, their performance was a short one.
The Roots were the bom lah! Seriously! They put John Legend to shame *haha. The organisers should have placed The Roots as the closing act. After watching them, the other performances seemed mediocre.
George Clinton and The Phunk gang was just weird lah. Entertaining but weird. Haha
Ever wanted to know how a black sumo would look like...well look no further..
Its a good thing that this photo showed only the back view. From the front, it was pretty obscene. *Eek!

Didn't take any photos of John Legend or Incubus. My legs were aching excruciatingly, so we sat down on proper sits that were located quite a distance from the stage. Thank God for big screens! *hee

I can't comment much about the technical part of it. Dan is the music expert, I'm just a food major. So I'll just leave it to the expert lah :P

All in all, Dan and I had an awesome time. It would have been better if it wasn't pouring, and if we weren't that old - leg pain etc. :P

    The Last Show

Had the opportunity to attend the 'Final Call for The Top Room' with Dan this evening. It was my first and final time there, since it was their closing show today.
It's a really nice and cozy place to just lay back and enjoy good jazz music, but sadly everything has to come to an end.

Junji Delfino - I fell in love with her voice :P

Mia Palencia - she's just adorable la *hee

David Gomex, Dan, Jonathan & Julian doing what they do best :)

Dan with his constipated face *hee

The very last and final number

Other various musicians and vocalist performed too.
All in all, it was a great evening :)
