Me, a sales executive?

I've received my first internship offer from a biotech cum pharmaceutical company, that's located in Damansara Perdana. Location vice, is pretty convenient from where I'm staying. However, their offering me a position in the sales & marketing department. Hence there would be lots of traveling to do, to meet clients in clinics and hospitals.

Many have told me that working in the marketing line is so much more interesting compared to lab-based work, and I would gain more knowledge and experiences through this line.

I took marketing as one of my final subjects last year, and I found it intriguing. But then again, I'm not sure if I'm suitable for this line.

I'd always thought that the manufacturing, laboratory, or research line was ideal for me. I guess you'll never really know till you've tried.

Therefore, I might take this opportunity to try something out of my norm and we'll see how it goes :)

Pains, urges and stuff *hee

1. Went jogging with Dan last Wed. I ran 3 rounds around the park, and I was already out of breath. The next day, my legs started aching and still are till today =_= Dan is totally pain-free! No fair *hee

2. On that very same day, had dinner in Port Klang. After dinner, my family, Dan and Giant Abias made our way to the new Bukit Tinggi Jusco Mall. Its big! No doubt about that. I somewhat prefer the shops in that mall compared to 1U. Maybe because their so much more affordable *grins

3. Seriously need to start shopping for office wears. I do not have a single pair of black slacks. Pathetic huh? :P

4. Dan fell ill yesterday, but I'm so glad that he is feeling so much better right now :)

5. These few days my hands and legs have been 'itching' a whole lot. I feel so tempted to go shopping for clothes, nail polishes, bags etc. However I've been refraining myself quite successfully, but I wonder how long can I resist this urge. I think I should ask Dan to hold on to the ATM card for the time being *hee

6. Tmr I will literally force myself to start writing the results and discussion parts for my thesis paper. Hope to completely it before CNY, at least I can enjoy myself a little more than I'm allowed to :P

Why do I care too much?

1. I still feel that I'm slightly 'fatter' than before, but another person told me today that I've lost weight O_O *huh? Hmm..maybe I'm being delusional.

2. People can be really mean. I believe I've said that many times before. Unfortunately, I can't really do anything about it. Like Dan said; people have the right to say, write, or do whatever they wish too. The right and best thing to do is to not retaliate.

3. I shouldn't allow people's negative remarks to affect me too much, especially from people that do not matter and that are insignificant in my life.

4. I had KFC for lunch today. Another craving fulfilled :)

5. I've a sudden craving for Durians. Too bad their not in season at this very moment :(

6. Dan told me the best way to pamper him, is to give him time alone with the TV *hee

7. Might go jogging tmr with Dan in the evening. I feel kinda semangat actually *haha

8. Still no call or reply from any of the food companies :(

Let me say it again: Being a musician is NOT glamorous

Being a musician is not glamorous. If you think i'm one of those that plays for free or for very little money for reasons like 'exposure' and 'experience' in places like Laundry Bar, you're wrong. I've been playing professionally since i was 18. And i have definitely taken sh*t from many many ppl including musicians.
Ppl like to get the most for less but it's not like that. It's not like we enjoy ourselves performing, get easy money and go home. It has been hours, months and years of practice before musicians could actually do what you see them do so easily. You're actually paying for our time, effort, talent and uncountable hours we put in to perfect our craft. Even so, senior musicians are also groups that intimidate, bully, take advantage and enslave (us) younger musicians. In addition to people who wants to hire us for the cheapest rates, con our time and make use of us as much as possible, we are actually having a huge 'company dispute' amongst musicians as well!
While there are ppl who think that being musicians are glamorous, easy work or stress-free (all of which are untrue), there are also ppl who think that musicians are dumb, willing to get any amount of pay just to play, spoiled brats or the lesser economic society. Why is that???!!!
Like today, I played for a corporate function involving a press conference for a development company. We were clearly told that we only need to play 2 sets for RMxxx amount. But sadly that wasn't the case. We were asked to play an extra set earlier which wasn't in the deal. After our actual set (2 sets already including the first one) ppl were leaving already after the press conference and makan. Normally in cases like this, the organizers would have dismissed us. But this idiot had to ask us to play one more set (3rd set) to just a few ppl including waiters, ppl packing furnitures and of course the 4 corners of the wall. 2 sets for RMxxx means 2 sets for RMxxx. Which part of that sentence did he not understand??? Even the fellow musician that sealed this gig did not object to unscrupulous demands like that. It's fine if you like working for more than you get but you are accountable to other musicians as well!!! I also hate that ppl deal gigs without making sure if there's sufficient equipmet, lunch/dinner provided and scheduling. That ain't professional at ALL!!!
Which reminds me...i had a housemate once that moved out without settling the bills which we always divide equally. When i asked him for it, he accused me of cheating him! That son of a %$@*%@$!&(@*. Also, what bout housemates who don't clean up after themselves... living in a zoo or what? Waiting for zookeepers to clean up your sh*t.
Sidetracked a bit... ... Basically, my job is as stressful and tiring as anyones. I'm sure they have their office politics, backstabbing, datelines, sadistic bosses, etc. I have mine too... I've seen many things especially when i play for functions. The high society, the rich and famous, the royalties. Money doesn't make them better. It makes them worst. If they think playing music is not a real job and we're doing it for free cuz it's fun, then perhaps they outta think twice about the music when they watch the tv, go to cinemas or listen to the radio. They get so drunk and ridiculous sometimes that you'll wonder if becoming rich affects your IQ poorly.
Maybe i should consider working as a zoo keeper since zoo negara is kinda nearby my place.

A little of this and that

Randomness;

1. My childhood buddy Joanna, is back for good! Yay! Had bbq in her place last night. Dan and I was super late *hee Sorry! However, there's more catching up to do :) And thank you again for the pretty blouses.

2. Wednesday is a public holiday, and I just found out about it today. Will ask Dan if he wants to go shopping for his CNY clothings.

3. Dan has been working a whole lot. I want to pamper him, but I'm not sure how *aiks I'll just ask him later :)

4. I think I've put on slightly. I've been eating a little more than the usual. But 'teh fly' thought otherwise; she said I've lost weight 0_0 Her reason; 'I can feel your backbones la' =_=

5. I'm still craving for seafood; crabs, lobsters and fresh oysters! Yummy! :P

6. I want to eat more bbq-ed marshmallows!! *grins

7. Can't wait for CNY. Ang pows and more makan *hee

8. Have not been to Zoo Negara and the National Bird Park in KL for quite awhile, will make a trip there soon. Most likely next month. Sunway Lagoon too! It'll be my first time, and probably last *haha

9. Sent my resume to 10 food manufacturing & distributing companies last Friday. Hoping to get a reply from them soon. Internship begins in March, ends in June.

10. Still thinking whether to take a short break after completion of my internship, or to just work immediately.

11. Need to meet up with 2 ex-college mates before they return back to Australia.

12. So many places I want to go, and so many things I want to do. Yet so little time and money.

Arrested for Laughing

This is from an actual trial in the UK : A young woman who was several
months pregnant boarded a bus.

When she noticed a young man smiling at her she began feeling humiliated
on account of her condition.

She changed her seat and he seemed more amused. She moved again and then
on her third move he burst out laughing..................She had him
arrested.

Then the case came before the court, the young man was asked why he
acted in such a manner.

His reply was: "When the lady boarded the bus I couldn't help noticing
she was pregnant.
She sat under an advertisement, which read:

'Coming Soon: The Gold Dust Twins'.

I was even more amused when she sat under a shaving advertisement, which
read:

'William's Stick Did The Trick'.

Then I could not control myself any longer when on the third move she
sat under an advertisement, which read:

'Dunlop Rubber would have prevented this accident.

'The case was dismissed.........!!!!!!!!

Something Funny

Here's another funny story that landed in my inbox:

"One Night, 4 College Students Were Playing Till Late Night And

Didn't Study For The Test Which Was Scheduled For The Next
Day.

In the morning they thought of a plan.
They made themselves look as dirty and weird with grease and
dirt. They then went up to the Dean and said that they had
gone out to a wedding last night and on their return the tyre
of their car burst and they had to push the car all the way
back and that they were in no condition to appear for the
test.

So the Dean said they can have the re-test after 3 days.
They thanked him and said they will be ready by that time.
On the third day they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said
that as this was a Special Condition Test, All four were
required to sit in separate classrooms for the test.
They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days.

The Test consisted of 2 questions with the total of 100 Marks.

Q.1. Your Name.........................( 2 MARKS )
Q.2. Which tyre burst ?...............( 98 MARKS )

a) Front Left
b) Front Right
c) Back Left
d) Back Right ....."

Unusual cravings

I've the weirdest craving.
I usually crave for chocolates, cakes, pastries or ice-creams. However this is the first time, I'm craving for LOBSTERS and FRESH OYSTERS!! Yum!
It's most likely due to a food article that I came across in today's Star Sunday Metro newspaper, which was reviewed by the owner of 'Memoir of a Chocoholic' blog.
If these pictures do not stimulate your taste buds, you seriously ought to get it checked.

The Lobsterman @ SS2, PJ

Can't wait to tame my taste buds. Ang pow, cepat mari! *hee :P

We always hurt the ones we love most

I fully agree with the statement above, and Dan can testify to it. Sorry dear! :P
I guess I expect the most out of them, and I take them for granted.
Sometimes I forget or overlook on the things that they've done for me, and I pick fights on matters that are not of significance or situations that I clearly know that they too cannot alter or change.
I can be unreasonable, and really unrealistic at times; especially on days when everything isn't going according to my liking.
However its a wonderful thing, that I've people who love me for who I am and not what I am.
If its due to the latter, I don't thing anyone could stand being around me.
And I offer my utmost sincere apologies, if I've done so to any without realizing it :)
Maybe I should make this as my first resolution for this year; to always love, care, understand, and be thankful for the people that I love so very much :)

Get jiggy wit it.

For some reason Cass thinks my life as a musician is super interesting and i should blog about my gigs and stuff more often. Well the one obvious difference i can think of is that no one goes to offices to watch people work and clap their hands after every page they've finished. Is being a musician glamorous?...perhaps. But did i become one because of that? ...definitely not. Here's a day's life of a musician-cum-student:

Thurs
3pm : Skip class and rush to soundcheck at Hartamas.
3.20pm: Arrived, looking for parking amongst heavily parked office patrons.
4pm : Soundcheck/rehearsal finally starts cuz everyone came late.
6.30pm: Traffic jam all the way back home to Setapak. Listening to CD of new songs that have to be learnt by tonight. Wished i had a limo n a driver so i can practice on the way home.
7.35pm: Finally reached home. Practiced a bit. Felt really sleepy due late nights and projects. Call Cass and
chatted for a while. Napped.
8.45pm: Realized i woke up too late for dinner. Showered, iron my shirt and rush off.
9.30pm: Arrived back at Hartamas again. Have quick dinner at nearby mamak.
10pm: Gig. During breaks; sit by the bar with bandmates and talk about global issues.
1.15am: Gig finishes. Pack up. Bandmates invites for mamak(again). Had to say no cuz got things to do. (Some gigs end early like 11pm which allows me to go soundcheck at places that does soundcheck on thursday nights like Alexis if i'm playing there on the following day)
2am: Reach home. Turn on pc and start working on school projects.
4.30am: Sleep.

Fri
9.30am: Woke up for 9am class. Take on sweet time to prepare even though 30minutes late already.
10.15am: Arrive at college. Lecturer locked classroom door already. Had to promise no more late mornings
next time even though this is the millionth time. Enters classroom and try not to fall back to sleep.
(My fridays the previous term had 9am-3pm of class in a row)
1pm: Poteng class a while to go eat lunch. Sms Cass and ask if she ate already.
1.30pm: Back in class. Napped.
3pm: Go home. Do school projects. Facebook. Blog (ocassionally). YouTube.
5.30pm: Call Cass and chat. Feel like sleeping but have to finish up some stuff.
7.30pm: Have dinner. Iron shirt and get ready for gig.
8.30pm: Watch YouTube.
9.30pm: Go off to gig.
10pm: Gig. Chatted with some friends during breaks. Try to socialize and get to know some new ppl but didn't
in the end cuz couldn't be bothered. End up at the bar talking about global issues with bandmates.
1.30am: Finish gig. Go mamak eat.
3am: Reach home. Sleep.

I love public holidays! Weeeee....

I'm so glad that tmr is a public holiday. Even though I've made no plans, and I'll most likely be home for the whole day; trying to complete as much thesis writing as I can - I'm still somewhat contented.
I prefer spending my day outdoors; shopping, cycling or picnicking under the lovely warm sun.
Unfortunately, reality always kicks in; I'm broke, I'm not sure if I still can keep my balance on the wheels, and the sun is definitely not lovely and warm - its scorching hot!
However, doing almost anything or nothing is gazillion times better than slaving myself around the weird-smelling-microbes-infested laboratory in Uni! *hee

I'm simply delighted that the first week of January is passing by quickly. Its an indication that I'll be thesis-free real soon, and I'll have the whole February to just chill and relax before being thrown into the working world for the rest of my life! :)
And how could I forget; there'll be ang pows to collect, hence many more outdoor activities *yay me! hee

On another note, my laptop got infected with Trojan virus! *eeks Thankfully my sister managed to removed the infected files, but she's not 100% sure if their all completely removed. Oh whatever la..yay me! haha

Addition to that, Switchfoot will be having a concert in KL next month!!! But the tickets are so expensive!!! Whyla!! *screams in agony
If any of my dear readers is feeling generous, don't forget to buy me a ticket yah. I mean 2 tickets, another for Dan :)

Bands/artistes that I fancy always held concerts when I'm facing bankruptcy. Alicia Keys!! You better organize another concert in Malaysia!! After CNY la ok? *haha
I think I'm going nuts from all the thesis writing 0_O

Before I forget, Dan's band 'Giant Timeline' will be jazzing it out at Alexis Bistro that's located within Great Eastern Mall, Ampang on the 11th & 12th of Jan. For further details, click on ALL DAT JAZZ that's categorized under my Links. Go support them on behalf of me :) *yay!

little Things

This is a circulated e-mail that find I very interesting:
"A little thought...

What ever that happens in life, happens for good.....so stop worrying about the future and forget the past. After Sept. 11th, one company invited the remaining members of other companies who had been decimated by the attack on the Twin Towers to share their available office space. At a morning meeting, the head of security told stories of why these people were alive, and all the stories were just the 'L I T T L E' things.

As you might know, the head of the company survived that day:
Because his son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.
One of them missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One's car wouldn't start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.
One couldn't get a taxi.
The one that struck everyone was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.

Now when I am stuck in traffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone ......... all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment. Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every traffic light, don't get mad or frustrated.

God is at work watching over you. Pass this on to someone else, if you'd like."

I'm a bass player...my fingers are equally as good as my tongue.

A while back, me and Cass made French toast with cheese. And since we had an abundance of pineapple, we chopped 'em, fried 'em with butter and placed them on the French toast.

Results: Weird and not very satisfying. I call it 'Trench Foast'.

Recently, we gave German food a try at a place located in the Curve known as Bavarian Bierhouse. (If Bierhouse means Beer House then Bavarian could mean Barbarian)

This is German Salad. The curly fried stuff in the middle remains unknown to us till today. Honestly, it is the funkiest tasting salad we've ever taste. In music, funk can be aggressive, dancable, energetic and groovy. But if something tastes funky, i'd dare say it's not very pleasant :p

This is Bratwurst or German sausage. It's certain shape and size would remind you of something.
It was meant to be eaten with mustard sauce, sauteed vege and onions. Cass and I felt that it shouldn't be eaten at all. (And we all wonder why the Germans were so angry)

Maybe the other foods in the menu are nice/okay...just maybe.

More work, less rants

I'm so tempted to rant, but I'm going to suck it in and sleep on it.
Don't want my first post of the year to be a ranting one *hee :)

The holidays have come to an end, hence it's back to working my butt off *hooray! :P
