Groove at Groove Junction

Its the end of the month again, and I'm sure most of you would have received your paycheck. Right? :) Thus if you're finding ways and a place to splurge 'em, head down to Groove Junction for both Friday & Saturday nights.

Tonight, Dan's band Giant Timeline with vocalist Elvira Arul will be grooving up the place with lots of R&B, Jazz & Funk tunes. Their definitely worth the watch, as they are a bunch of young & extremely talented souls.

Giant Timeline consist of Daniel Foong on the bass, Wei Li on the piano, Faz Aznam on the guitar, and Steve Naris on the drums. Do check out their myspace account to hear original songs composed by individuals of the band and to get constant updates on their latest gigs, by clicking here

On Saturday night, it'll be Jose Thomas turn to strut his stuff. Making this show even more a must watch is Daniel Foong, who'll be grooving on his bass, and John Thomas who whacks the drums like no one can *haha. I don't know who'll be on the keys and saxophone, but I'm sure their equally good.
Well the main recent both nights are a must watch because my handsome boy will be playing :)
Too bad I've a super gila early curfew that doesn't allow me to. So for those that doesn't have a super gila early curfew, please take this opportunity to have fun and enjoy good music at Groove Junction this weekend :)

On both nights, the band starts playing at 10pm. Cover charge is only RM30. Have a great weekend!

Both gigs are rated WW.

78 and still going strong

Yesterday, I'd the opportunity of attending Dan's grandma's 78th birthday dinner at V Garden Restaurant in Klang.
I decided to bake a lemon frosted lemon cake for his grandma & family, as they have been very hospitable to me, whenever I do go over to his parent's place in Klang.

I did a trial run on Sunday, and it turn out perfect! The taste, colour and texture was just right, and I was very happy and please with the outcome.

Unfortunately, it didn't turn out too well when I baked it again yesterday :( Many cracks formed on the surface of the cake during the baking process, and it ended up looking like a mountain 0_0

With the icing on, it looks like a snowy mountain =_=

Thankfully the taste wasn't affected. It still tasted yummy, according to Dan's family and Dan :) According to Dan's grandma, the cracks could be due to too much baking powder.

Dan and I went over to Jusco Bukit Tinggi in the evening to purchase a Tiramisu cake for his grandma. Its her favourite cake. We got it from Secret Recipe, because it was the only cake shop that sold tiramisu.
We had the birthday dinner at V Garden Restaurant, which is located beside the Klang Hokkien Association building. Food was good, but most of the dishes were a tad salty.
Grandma blowing the candle.
The grand children with other children and I! :)

Dan is very proud that he is the only grandson in the family. And not to mention, a very handsome one :P

Overall, I really had a good time having small chats with his family. And time spend with Dan is always wonderful :)

Of Dan, Food and Heels

In my previous post, I'd mentioned that I would take a week break from baking. However that wasn't the case *hee
Since I'd leftover ingredients, which were easily perishable - I decided to bake another cake on Tuesday by using the similar recipe for the Apple Cinnamon cake, but I replaced certain ingredients in the recipe. For example; I substituted cinnamon with vanilla essence, and chopped apples with raisins.

The outcome? Taste vice, it wasn't as good as the Apple Cinnamon cake. Majority preferred the Apple Cinnamon cake recipe.

Applesauce Vanilla Raisin Cake - name courtesy of darling Dan :)

On another note, Dan and I went on a date yesterday to celebrate his early 'graduation', since he is finally done with all his FYPs. I'm so happy for you hubby! :)

We went over to One U to catch The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian movie. Before the movie, we had dinner at Robert Harris. It was our first time there. Price vise, it is very affordable. However in terms of taste, I would rate it mediocre. I can't remember the exact name of the dishes that we had. My memory hasn't been doing so well lately *hee

Dan had Lamb with Herbs Rice. The lamb was stewed with lots of herbs and spices. The meat was tender and juicy - it was really appetizing. On the contrary, the herbs rice was a disappointment - no evidence of herbs could be detected by our taste buds.

I'd the Seafood platter, which consisted of 2 mini pieces of calamari, mussels, fish, and shrimps. The french fries that accompanied the seafood was soggy. Overall, the seafood and coleslaw wasn't too bad. However there is still much room for improvement.

Before Dan picked me up from work, one of the strap on my heels snapped! The heels are only a few months old, and I got them at a rather cheap price - RM20. Thus shorter life span *hahaha

When we arrived at One U, Dan and I searched high and low for a replacement. We went to a number of shoe shops, but our search was pretty unfruitful. The designs that I fancied somehow were always out of stock. I actually gave up, and told Dan to forget about getting one today. However Dan was persistent, and we finally found a pair that I like at Voir. Special thanks to Dan for being extremely patient and for sponsoring me a brand new pair of black heels :)
I wanted and still want to get a non-black one, but its hard to find one in my size =_= I'll be patient and wait, since it is not a necessity.

Anyway, I'm contented with what I have. Thanks Dan darling for always making me feel special, its definitely going to be a lonely weekend without you. I miss you already.

Baking spree

I've been roasting and baking quite a lot for the past week. Its has been a really tiring yet satisfying week. It gives me great joy to feed and fatten up the people that I love :P In addition to that, I'd always enjoyed cooking.

Roasted/baked chicken drumsticks on Wednesday for Dan and my sisters.

And since Dan was coming over for dinner again on Friday, I decided to bake him and my family bread pudding!
Yummy...

Bread pudding close-up

Serve bread pudding with vanilla ice-cream.

I roasted the chicken drumsticks when my parents were away in Thailand, hence mum asked me to roast/bake chicken again on Saturday because they missed it. This time round, I added potatoes and egg plants.

Juicy and flavourful roast/bake chicken, and also rich in herbs and spices *drool

Today I baked Apple Cinnamon cake for my family. They'll be going for a picnic tmr, together with some family friends. Its my first time baking a cake, and I'm glad that it turned out well :)

Strong cinnamon flavour with real apple pieces :)

I'll be taking a break from all the roasting and baking for the whole of this week, because I've planned to bake a cake for Dan's grandma's b'day, the following week.

If anyone is interested to know the ingredients and cooking methods, do drop me your email address and I'll email them to you :)

Can't wait to bake again! :P

To eat or not to eat?

I'm been having frequent hunger pangs lately.
I'll start feeling hungry roughly 2 hours after having a normal portion meal 0_0 And sometimes even after consuming a large meal.
I've been eating quite a lot, but some ppl have been making a big issue on my weight. They said I've loss so much, and even accused me of being bulimic O_O
Their either blind or they themselves are the ones with weight issues *tsk tsk
I'm so tempted to order McD right now, and I'm trying my utmost best to refrain myself.
Too bad I can't hand cuff myself *hahahaha

Only good food for Dan this week, Cass just 'see-food'

Sorry for the lack of updates, as I've not been in the pink of health lately.
Glad that I'm on the road to recovery, but its been a rather slow journey.
I wish I could quicken the pace a little.

It was good to meet with the Fly and Spunkz to celebrate their belated b'days :)
As always, our gatherings are always fill with food *hee (unfortunately no food pics were taken)

Spunkz and her boo surprised us with a lovely chocolate cake that they both baked.

The bakerz :) The cake was really good.

The b'day girls; Fly and Spunkz. Already 23 but not looking a bit older *hee
Looking forward to meeting up with you girls again. Hopefully we can go for Klang bahkuteh the next time :P

Last Saturday, Dan and I went for the movie Ironman. The movie was fantastic. Really good. Two thumbs up! If you're thinking of getting the pirated DVD for the movie, this movie its worth splurging on - so don't be so cheapskate, and go watch it in the cinema :P

We had dinner at Winter Warmers Coffee & Tea House, The Curve. It was my second time dinning there, but this time round - the food didn't taste as good.

Overall, I would grade their food as only mediocre. Nothing special or extravagant.

Macaroni Cheese Baked, which tasted much better than the next dish. It should be cheesier, and those frozen veggies (peas, corns & carrots) should be a big no-no in this dish.

Butter Lemon Fish - The butter lemon sauce was too sweet for my liking, and you feel 'muak' after consuming a large portion of it. I wouldn't recommend this dish to anyone, but I enjoyed the french fries :)

I doubt I'll be enjoying any good food for the whole of this week, as I am currently suffering from a terrible sore throat, which have made speaking an extremely painful experience. Hence eating has definitely been torturous =_=

Have a little faith in me

Being a musician is totally not fun all the time,
I speak for myself and myself first,
I suffer a lot from social handicap,
When it comes to meeting real ppl like Cass' friends.
I also have to face a lot of doubting,
In situations that I'd try to make her understand,
But it is me to first be placed in her shoes,
And in reality make sure I don't bend.
Sometimes I wish what I do is not what I do,
And places and ppl just pass me by,
That time and the universe doesn't notice me at all,
Make me nothing but dust unseen to all.
But then ppl will not notice me,
And gigs I might not have,
A living I might not make,
And neither is this something I choose to take.
Is there an easier way?
For doing things unseen in a feasible way,
Is there a method of proportion,
Perfect confrontation, rejection, acknowledgment and ambition.

Technology and publicness like Facebook can be so fatal and deadly. You'll never know if what happened was alright till your better half thinks it's alright. No i'm not talking bout justification for a cheating act, and i'm definitely not talking about the green-eyed monster of jealousy every woman becomes in certain situations. I'm talking about controversial issues such as having a picture taken with someone else from the opposite sex. Well, most of you may think its alright...u'r free to go scr*w yourself. I won't bore u with my theories. But to u guys who have gf's like that & know what i'm talking bout, well guess what? Telling your gf what happened and that it didn't mean a thing won't help! But fear not,...just follow the format below and perhaps it'll work out:

"I, Daniel Foong Koon Wah solemnly agrees that Cass is entitled to feed me with hallucinogen pills until I do something that would so cost my body parts if Rules below are not kept,

Rule#1 : No pics alone with anyone from opposite sex ever, unless permitted by Cass or is my family member, or, is a common friend that she trust fully will not sabotage my *ss.
Rule#2: Any pics taken with someone from the opposite sex in conjuction with Rule#1 will be taken at no closer that 20inches.
Rule#3: Body contact of whatsoever is strictly prohibited.

Cass, if this doesn't make you feel any better...i dunno what else would. God pls help me, Amen.
